Parents of sailors from the cruiser “Moskva” are trying to find out the fate of their children

Parents of Russian sailors who died or went missing after the cruiser Moskva was blown up and sunk in the Black Sea are uniting to get information about the fate of their children.

Dmitry Shkrebets from Yalta, the father of one of the missing conscript sailors Yegor Shkrebets, writes on his page on the social network VKontakte that he has already been contacted by three families from Yalta, Alupka and St. Petersburg, who are also trying to find out the fate of their children.

Judging by the publications of Dmitry Shkrebets, he supports the “special operation” in Ukraine, but at the same time he is outraged that the Russian Defense Ministry hides real information about losses, in particular about the losses of the crew of the Moskva cruiser, on which his son served.

Earlier, Irina Shkrebets told The Insider that she and her husband visited the hospital in Rocky Bay, where they brought the wounded from the cruiser. According to her, there were about 200 injured sailors, and she did not find her son among them.

The Moskva missile cruiser, the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, on board of which explosions and a fire occurred on the morning of April 14, sank in the Black Sea “while being towed in a storm,” the Russian Defense Ministry said on the evening of April 14. At the same time, it was alleged that the crew of the cruiser was evacuated to the ships of the Black Sea Fleet that were in the area.

The Ukrainian side stated that the Moskva cruiser was hit by Ukrainian Neptune missiles.

The project 1164 Moskva Guards missile cruiser was built at a shipyard in Nikolaev and commissioned in 1982. It was originally called “Glory”. The crew is over 500 people.

According to The Maritime Executive, the negotiations, during which Ukrainian border guards on Zmeiny Island uttered the phrase “Russian warship, go to …”, took place when the Moskva missile cruiser and a patrol ship approached the island on February 24, 2022 ” Vasily Bykov.
