Prince Mohammed bin Salman: ‘Normalizing Relations with Israel Could Cost Me My Life’

According to Politico, Saudi Arabia’s heir to the throne, Mohammed bin Salman, expressed concern in conversations with American congressmen who visited the kingdom that normalizing relations with Israel would cost him his life.

He recalled the assassination of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, who had signed a peace treaty with Israel and was the victim of an assassination attempt, and asked his interlocutors what the US had done to protect the Egyptian leader. It is unclear from the publication when this conversation took place.

The Crown Prince stressed that the agreement between Israel and Saudi Arabia must also provide a clear path to the creation of a Palestinian state, as this is the main issue on the Arab agenda.

The publication emphasizes that Muhammad considers the conclusion of an agreement with Israel and the United States to be critical for the future of Saudi Arabia. It recalls that shortly before October 7, 2023, two Israeli ministers openly visited the kingdom. However, Saudi public opinion is now against the Israelis.
