Coastal provinces ‘win big’ during the holidays

According to reports from localities, the hot weather during the two holidays (Ancestor’s Anniversary and April 30-May 1) close together has boosted people’s need to “cool off”. The average room capacity nationwide reaches 65-70%, especially in key coastal tourist destinations reaching over 90%.

Not counting the two big cities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang is the “star” of this year’s holiday season. The city welcomed nearly 1.5 million visitors, revenue reached 5,727 billion VND, an increase of nearly 35% over the same period in 2025. After merging with Quang Nam, Da Nang’s attraction comes from a dynamic, modern coastal city, many entertainment events, in addition, the city also owns heritages such as Hoi An ancient town, My Son holy land, craft villages and community tourism.

Following closely behind is Thanh Hoa with 1.72 million visitors and estimated revenue of 4,330 billion VND. Among them, Sam Son is still the focus, welcoming 1.2 million visitors. Ninh Binh and Quang Ninh also recorded positive results with revenue reaching 4,200 billion VND and 4,165 billion VND, respectively.

According to the Director of the Department of Tourism of Ninh Binh province, the average room capacity at accommodation establishments has improved significantly, especially during holidays, averaging 75%. Particularly in Hoa Lu, Nam Hoa Lu, Cuc Phuong and the coastal communes of Hai Hau, Hai Thinh, Hai Tien reached 95-100% on the evenings of April 26, April 30 and May 1.

Despite reaching millions of visitors, one of Vietnam’s top tourist destinations this year such as An Giang achieved more modest results than other coastal provinces with nearly 1.1 million visits and total tourism revenue of nearly 2,400 billion VND.

Mr. Bui Quoc Thai, Director of An Giang Department of Tourism, said that air ticket prices remain high, causing tourists to tend to choose nearby destinations, travel by personal vehicle or in family groups. Besides, the fact that international tours have competitive prices also significantly “shares” the number of domestic tourists.

In the Central region, Khanh Hoa earned nearly 2,638 billion VND. According to Cam Ranh International Airport, during the 9 peak days of the holiday, the port serves more than 1,000 flights, including more than 600 international flights.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa, this year’s two holidays are two days apart, creating a series of long holidays, helping the tourism trend to be distributed in many waves instead of concentrating in a short period of time, helping to relieve pressure at destinations and creating conditions for many localities to proactively regulate and improve service quality.

In addition, beautiful and stable weather conditions have contributed to favorable conditions for people and tourists to visit, relax and experience cuisine. This is also a factor that actively supports demand stimulation activities and attracts tourists.

In the north, Nghe An also recorded strong growth in cultural, spiritual, eco-tourism, and community tourism areas such as Kim Lien Relic Area, Truong Bon, Ong Hoang Muoi Temple, KM0 Special National Monument, and Cua Lo Beach. The whole province served about 1.2 million visitors, bringing in revenue of 2,191 billion VND,

A number of other provinces and cities also achieved trillions in revenue including Hue (2,300 billion VND), Lam Dong (2,200 billion VND), Gia Lai (1,650 billion VND).

Although not in the top provinces and cities with revenue of trillions, tourism activities during the 7-day holiday of Quang Ngai province recorded many signs of improvement, the number of visitors and revenue increased sharply by 70% compared to the same period last year. Destinations that attract many tourists are widely distributed, from coastal and island areas to mountainous areas, including Mang Den, Kon Tum, and Ly Son.

Ho Chi Minh City continues to affirm its position as a tourist center by earning 8,700 billion VND with 1.7 million visitors. Hanoi welcomed 1.35 million visitors, revenue was estimated at 5,000 billion VND.

To ensure the safety of tourists, localities have increased food hygiene inspections and posted prices publicly, preventing “cutting corners” on peak days.
