In front of the Chabad house: the move in Thailand that causes a stir among Israelis

The Free Secular Movement has announced the launch of the Secular Homes project around the world, with Ko Pha Ngan Thailand being the first location. According to the movement, the secular house will operate similarly to the Chabad house format, but will be free of religious content.

The announcement stated that the “Secular House” will offer workshops on secular Jewish philosophy, Friday dinners on secular identity, yoga and reading Spinoza’s writings, Spinoza’s words, Shulamit Aloni’s words, seafood cooking workshops and local Thai food, community evenings, networking, dating, and a shared workspace for digital nomads.

The “Free Seculars” movement stated that the secular Jewish community in London is also preparing to open a branch and the plan is to expand further and open several secular houses around the world, especially in concentrations of former Israelis and travelers from the country.

The chairman of the Free Seculars, Ilai Harsgur-Handin, said: “We are proud to be secular. We, the free seculars, have seen the successful methods of the religious to spread their Mishnah, such as Chabad houses around the world, and we have decided to adopt some of them in accordance with the values of secular Judaism. We operate secular stands throughout the country to strengthen the secular identity, we fight for the protection of the rights of the seculars and the equal allocation of land, and we encourage secular consumerism in secular-friendly businesses. The time has come. Secularists will help Israelis abroad as well.”
