They won medals at the Winter Olympics a few months ago, and now Hanna Öberg and Martin Ponsiluoma are also announcing good news privately: the Swedish biathlon couple is expecting a baby. “We have something to report! The coming season offers new challenges,” wrote the 30-year-old on Instagram alongside meaningful photos. In the pictures, the couple is visibly happy holding the Swede’s baby bump.
Some of the first to congratulate Instagram were some biathlon colleagues, including the German Olympic champion Denise Herrmann-Wick, the overall World Cup winner Franziska Preuß, the Italian Dorothea Wierer and the French Quentin Fillon Maillet.
Öberg won silver with the Swedish relay team at the Olympic biathlon competitions in Antholz this year. She previously became Olympic champion in Pyeongchang (individual) in 2018 and in Beijing (relay) in 2022, as well as relay silver in 2018. Ponsiluoma won gold in the pursuit and bronze in the relay at the Olympics in Antholz, and in 2022 he won silver in the mass start.
