In particular, Ho Chi Minh City is the largest urban tourism center in Vietnam, with about one in five domestic tours visiting this city. Hanoi maintains its attraction thanks to its system of monuments, museums, cultural spaces and many exhibition activities, festivals and art programs taking place during the holidays.
Da Nang is a destination with strong growth in many categories, from room bookings, sightseeing tickets to family travel. The number of ticket bookings to Ba Na Hills alone increased by 132% over the same period last year. The two remaining destinations that many Vietnamese tourists are most interested in during the holiday are Con Dao and Phu Quoc.

In the second quarter, Phu Quoc led the “Demand Score” of the Traveloka SEA Index with 100 points, the number of service bookings increased by 86% over the same period; followed by Con Dao (96 points), Hoi An (92) and Da Nang (88 points). According to Ms. Huynh Thi Mai Thy, Country Director of Traveloka, Vietnamese tourists still prioritize domestic destinations, while many other Southeast Asian markets shift to East Asia. On a regional scale, Da Nang is the only Southeast Asian representative in the group of 12 destinations with higher than average growth.
However, Vietnamese demand for international tourism also increased again. Bangkok leads searches with a 61% increase in volume, with average length of stay increasing from 3.2 to 3.6 nights. Tokyo grew the fastest with bookings increasing by more than 80%; Seoul ranks next, with spending by Vietnamese tourists twice as high as other Asian destinations.
