“Murdering Zionists”: Israelis were attacked in the European capital city

Records of an incident in which two Israelis were attacked by pro-Palestinian demonstrators were distributed in the last day in media in Greece and around the world. From the videos circulated online it appears that an Israeli couple traveling in the Greek capital got into a confrontation with protesters, who waved Palestinian flags and called them “Free Palestine” and “Murdering Zionists”.

According to the documents, the Israelis are not seen when they try to confront the protesters. At one point, some of the protesters are seen attacking the Israeli man with kicks and punches, while the woman who was with him is near him. A number of locals intervened in what was happening, tried to distance the protesters from the two and rescue them from the place.

The incident took place against the background of pro-Palestinian demonstrations that took place throughout Greece as part of the “Day of Rage”. During the demonstrations, which were held in dozens of centers throughout the country, including Athens, Thessaloniki, islands and various tourist centers, the demonstrators waved Palestinian flags and chanted slogans against Israel.

In addition, the Israelis were asked to keep Israeli and Jewish symbols to a minimum and to avoid posting on social networks the location of the stay in real time. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that one should obey the instructions of the local authorities and stay away from the protest centers. The warning was issued against the background of the fear of developments during the demonstrations, especially in areas where many Israeli tourists stay.

Media in Greece reported that despite the existence of demonstrations in dozens of centers, the total number of participants throughout the country amounted to a few thousand and no more unusual events were recorded.
