Chinese visitors to Vietnam increased sharply

International visitors to Vietnam in the first 4 months of the year reached 6.2 million, up 68% over the same period, of which Chinese visitors are returning strongly.

Data from the General Statistics Office released on the morning of April 29 shows that Korea is still the market sending the largest visitors to Vietnam in April and the first 4 months of the year, followed by mainland China.

However, April witnessed a strong “rise” from Chinese visitors. The number of visitors between these two markets shortened the difference to 10,000 visitors, 368,000 Korean visitors and 358,000 Chinese visitors. Meanwhile, in previous months, the number of Korean visitors was usually 1.4 to 2 times more than Chinese visitors.

Due to the gloomy economy after the epidemic, many Chinese tourists choose to travel domestically and to nearby countries. Vietnam’s advantage with this market is its common land border and similar culture.

Previously, CTrip, a famous online travel company in China, also commented that one-fifth of the number of Chinese tourists most wanted to go to Southeast Asia due to close travel, affordable prices, and suitable prices. suitable for the current frugal spending budget of Chinese people.

The remaining markets in the top sending the most visitors to Vietnam in April include Taiwan, America, Australia, Thailand, Cambodia, India, Malaysia, and Japan.

According to the General Statistics Office, international visitors to Vietnam are higher than the same period last year, favorable visa policies and attractive tourism stimulus programs continue to be effective in attracting visitors. In April, Vietnam welcomed 1.55 million visitors, slightly down from 1.59 million in March but up 58.2% over the same period last year.

In the first 4 months of the year, international visitors to Vietnam reached 6.2 million, up 68% over the same period last year and up 3.9% over the same period in 2019 – the year before the pandemic. If in the next 8 months, Vietnam continues to maintain the “performance” of welcoming visitors like the first 4 months of the year, the tourism industry will exceed the set target of welcoming 18 million visitors, recovering 100% as before the epidemic.
