Iceland's hot baths and magnificent nature attract – And if you know how to look, you can still find places on the island where no one is to be seen – Matka

No one knows how much longer Iceland’s tourism boom will last. The island is a favorite destination especially for conscious nature tourists, but are the hot springs too crowded already?

Located southeast of Reykjavík, in the valley of Reykjadalur, the thermal bath was born at the intersection of two streams. Ice cold water flows into the “bath” from one branch and scalding hot water from the other. The bravest run from one bed to another to get the health benefits of the cold-hot alternation.

Thermal the heat of the water soothes the body and the bubbles massage the stiff muscles from the day’s hiking. Northern lights appear in the sky. I reach to the edge of the pool for a glass of sparkling wine.

I adjust the beanie on my head and continue to marvel at the colorful sky. The moment is ridiculously lovely. Without this, I might not survive Iceland’s harsh climate.
