The Swiss creator Daniele Finzi Pasca returns to Spain with ‘Ícaro’, the monologue written in prison and which turns 35 years old

The Swiss creator Daniele Finzi Pasca returns to Spain with his monologue ‘Ícaro’, written in prison and premiered in 1991, which has had more than 800 performances in numerous countries.

After its last performance in Spain in 2023, ‘Ícaro’ returns to Spain with a new tour that will stop in Bilbao (April 29, Teatro Campos Elíseos), A Coruña (May 2, Teatro Colón), Barcelona (May 6, Teatro Borrás) and Madrid (May 8 and 9, Teatro Circo Price).

‘Ícaro’ is a stage monologue that establishes a direct and intimate dialogue with the audience. In each performance, a spectator chosen at random by Daniele Finzi Pasca actively participates in the scene, while the rest of the audience becomes voyeurs.

The work was written in prison, where Finzi Pasca briefly served a sentence for conscientious objection to compulsory military service in Switzerland, and is part of a trilogy dedicated to the escape, of which the shows ‘Dialoghi col Sonno’ and ‘Arianna’ are also part.

“I do theater for the pleasure of being shipwrecked, of getting a little lost: one of the healthiest things in life. We get lost and escape. An inner escape reveals to us what we are. Escape is a strategy that allows us to unearth reality to discover the secrets that appearances hide, to invent new utopias” says Daniele Finzi Pasca.
