Iran reverses opening of Strait of Hormuz

According to US President Donald Trump, Tehran is also ready to hand over its stockpiles of enriched uranium – one of the US conditions for an agreement with Iran. “They agreed to give us back the nuclear dust,” Trump said, without providing further details. Trump uses the word nuclear dust to describe stocks of enriched uranium, which Washington says can be used to build nuclear weapons.

Western states have been accusing Iran of seeking nuclear weapons for years. Tehran denies this and assures that it only operates its nuclear program for civilian use. Trump justified the war against Iran, among other things, by saying that Tehran was on the verge of building nuclear weapons and could therefore “soon” even attack the USA.

According to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Iran is the only country without its own nuclear weapons that is enriching uranium to 60 percent. Uranium enriched to 90 percent is necessary to produce nuclear warheads; enrichment to 3.67 percent is sufficient to generate electricity using nuclear power.
