The new iOS 27 could completely change the look of your iPhones

“In the category of modest improvements, Apple is testing a change to the Home screen in iOS 27 that could be useful for those who frequently adjust the layout of their icons and widgets. Currently, when you long-press the Home screen, you get a menu in the top left corner with four options: Add Widget, Customize, Edit Wallpaper, and Edit Pages. Apple is considering adding ‘undo’ and ‘redo’ buttons to that the same menu to make it easier to undo or revert changes,” the report states.

This means that if you make a change to the home screen that you’re not sure about, you can simply undo it. Likewise, if you undo something you actually liked, you can easily put it back. It is not yet known how far back in history the undo option is, but it will certainly be useful for quickly trying out different layouts.

Snow Leopard Edition

iOS 27 is expected to follow the pattern of so-called “Snow Leopard” releases, where the main emphasis is on improving system performance and stability, rather than introducing a large number of new functions. Such an approach comes after more significant changes in previous versions, such as the introduction of widgets in iOS 14 and a visual redesign known as “Liquid Glass”. Priority on system optimization will probably result in better battery life.

Apple has historically had a much more controlled approach to the user interface compared to the great flexibility offered by rival Android. The evolution of the iOS home screen was a gradual process. Early versions offered minimal personalization, but over the years Apple has introduced app folders, the App Library for automatic organization, and, more recently, the ability to place widgets between icons. The introduction of an option to undo changes can therefore be seen as another, albeit cautious, step towards giving users more control over the appearance of their device.

Other improvements

In addition to the new undo/redo function, iOS 27 also brings improvements to the “Liquid Glass” design. Users will receive a new slide. which will enable them to precisely adjust the appearance of transparency and visual effects, offering more than the existing “Clear” and “Tinted” options. Significant improvements are also expected for the virtual assistant Siri, for which a new, dedicated application and more advanced capabilities based on artificial intelligence are mentioned. The official presentation of the iOS 27 system is expected at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference.
