Bahrain revoked citizenship of 69 people ‘for approving Iran’s actions’

Bahraini authorities have revoked the citizenship of 69 people who publicly approved of Iran’s attacks, as well as those accused of having ties to foreign entities.

Al-Bilad writes that the decision was made at the direction of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, based on the citizenship law, which provides for the deprivation of citizenship for actions detrimental to the interests of the kingdom or violation of a promise to remain loyal to the country.

The publication provides a list of 69 names and indicates that all of these individuals were not born in Bahrain.

The government said competent authorities continue to review and review who deserves Bahraini citizenship and who does not. Bahrain, where a significant portion of the population is Shiite, has repeatedly accused Iran of interfering in the kingdom’s internal affairs.
