New Delhi calls the attack on the Indian ship “unacceptable”.

In a statement released, the foreign ministry stressed that the targeting of commercial ships and peaceful sailors must stop, also expressing gratitude to the Omani authorities for rescuing the crew members.

Maritime security company Vanguard reported that the 54-meter-long wooden cargo ship MSV Haj Ali sank off the coast of Oman, south of the Strait of Hormuz, after the explosion.

The ship was reportedly transporting livestock from Somaliland to the United Arab Emirates when it was possibly targeted by a drone or missile.

Since the start of the American-Israeli joint attack, Tehran has practically closed the Strait of Hormuz, through which, before the war, about 20 percent of the world’s consumed oil products passed.

The US, in its turn, is subjecting Iranian ports to a sea blockade.

The supply disruptions have caused volatility in global oil and gas markets, causing concerns in energy-importing countries, including India.
