Up to 70 percent of Finns are worried about the rise in the price of electricity in the next year, according to the energy company Helen’s from the national energy gallup survey.
The number is high, as it is almost as large as for the price of food (72 percent). However, more solutions for saving electricity are available to the consumer than ever before. Everyone has the opportunity to influence their own electricity bill, often even more than they think.
According to Helen’s national energy gallup, Finns are used to making everyday choices that reduce consumption and to schedule their use of electricity at the most favorable moments.
“Electricity is a basic commodity and it makes sense to follow its price. In this way, it is also possible to make good solutions in terms of your own energy use,” says Helen’s director responsible for consumer customers Eliisa Puska in the bulletin.
According to the study, Finns recognize the most effective ways to save electricity. 83 percent consider reducing the use of the sauna to be an effective way, 77 percent consider lowering the temperature in the home effective, and 72 percent consider turning off unused electrical devices effective.

The data was collected by Verian as an online panel survey in March 2026.
1,010 people responded to the survey, and the result represents the adult population of mainland Finland (margin of error ±3.1% units).
At the same time, a large number also use these means in their everyday life: for example, 84 percent of Finns say they turn off unused electrical devices.
“This tells us that Finns already have a strong foundation for saving electricity. When these methods are combined with new services and the right kind of contract solutions, the impact on your own electricity bill can be significant,” says Puska.
There are now even more ways to manage your electricity bill
Nowadays, electricity consumption can be controlled and costs managed in several ways.
Scheduling consumption for low-cost hours reduces costs, and monitoring electricity use helps identify the biggest savings targets.
According to the study, half of Finns would currently choose a fixed-price electricity contract precisely because of predictability.
“Many are looking for certainty above all. A well-chosen contract and control of one’s own consumption are together a guaranteed way to control the size of one’s electricity bill. On the other hand, those who actively adjust their electricity consumption have more opportunities than ever, and the popularity of exchange-traded electricity contracts often increases especially towards the summer,” says Puska.
