The presentation of the first Ferrari electric car led to a collapse in the company’s shares

The car was named Luce, which means “Light”, and its cost is $640,000. The new model is noticeably different from the usual Ferrari: it is the first five-seater car in the history of the brand. Its design was developed in collaboration with LoveFrom, a company founded by former Apple chief designer Jony Ive.

The appearance of Luce caused a strong reaction on social networks. Some users called the car “a road straight to the landfill”, others – “a real design masterpiece.” Investors, as far as one can judge, do not share enthusiastic epithets.

The electric supercar market is currently going through a difficult period. Brands such as Lamborghini and Porsche have already scaled back their electric vehicle plans due to weak demand and increasing competition from Chinese manufacturers.

Luce is equipped with four electric motors of Ferrari’s own design – one for each wheel. The car can accelerate to 96 km/h in approximately 2.5 seconds. Ferrari emphasized that all key components are produced within the company. This should make the car easier to maintain in the future and help maintain its value on the secondary market.

Automakers are increasingly facing challenges in transitioning to electric vehicles. Ford and Volkswagen, for example, are again betting on gasoline-powered vehicles, especially in the American market. The reason was low demand for EVs and policy changes under President Donald Trump, who cut incentives for buyers of electric cars.
