The KEMAH Foundation, together with the Ministry of Health, launches a training program for 2,000 Haredi doctors

The project, which will start in the coming weeks, is organized jointly with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Jerusalem and Heritage Affairs, the Ultra-Orthodox Sector Development Authority, the Joint Organization and other structures.

Until now, a more modest program had been in place to help Haredim integrate into the four-year undergraduate medical education program. Participants received, in particular, preparation for entrance exams.

The new program will also provide support to those applying for a six-year medical program. It will include specialized preparatory courses (in addition to existing ones, where training is conducted separately for men and women), which will help bridge academic gaps and prepare for study. In particular, we are talking about obtaining a full matriculation certificate, preparation for a psychometric exam, accompaniment at interviews at medical faculties and support directly during studies.

Medical education itself at universities is conducted without division by gender. The program is addressed to men and women from the ultra-Orthodox sector who have the ability and desire for academic education in medical and health professions.

The program will be headed by the dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University, Yossi Mekori.
