Salmonella: Be careful with these two Hofer products

The Hofer supermarket chain has launched a precautionary recall for two of its products. They are affected “FairHOF Chicken Wings” (500 g) and the “FairHOF Spiced Chicken Drumsticks” (400 g)which come from the supplier Hubers Landhendl GmbH.

The recall was due to a possible microbiological Salmonella contamination caused.

The affected products were sold in all Hofer branches across Austria from June 3, 2026. The sale has now been stopped. An official statement emphasizes that the withdrawal step is taken for consumer protection reasons.

What consumers should do now

Customers are urged to stop consuming the products mentioned. Hofer offers an uncomplicated refund for affected goods: The product can be returned to any branch of the discounter and the purchase price will be fully refunded, even without presenting proof of purchase.

Why is salmonella dangerous?

Salmonella are bacteria that can cause serious symptoms such as diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps, especially in foods such as poultry. Older people, children and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk.

Those affected should seek medical help immediately if they suspect an infection.
