The counting of votes has ended in the elections in Armenia: Pashinyan’s victory

The Central Election Commission of Armenia has completed the counting of votes in the June 7 parliamentary elections. They were won by the pro-Western Civil Contract party, led by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. 49.81% of voters voted for her.

The pro-Russian “Strong Armenia” of Samvel Karapetyan receives 23.29% of the votes, the “Armenia” bloc of former President Robert Kocharyan – 9.94%. Prosperous Armenia also overcomes the electoral barrier with 4% of the votes.

The turnout in the elections was 59%. According to the system adopted in Armenia, the votes received by parties that did not enter parliament are distributed among those who overcame the electoral threshold, so “Civil Contract” will receive a majority in parliament.

Pashinyan said that this was a historic victory and promised to continue to develop relations with the West, while at the same time not forgetting about ties with Russia. He also spoke about rapprochement with Azerbaijan and Turkey, as well as the need to fight the oligarchy.
