La Jornada: Cyberattack knocks down services of four banks in Iran

Dubai. A cyberattack disrupted services at four major Iranian banks, although no customer data was compromised, the country’s Banking Coordination Council told state media.

The council noted that the attack targeted shared communications infrastructure used by banks Melli, Tejarat, Saderat and the Export Development Bank of Iran, prompting technical teams to implement protective measures and temporarily affecting some banking services.

The agency stated that there had been no unauthorized access to customer information and that no data had been deleted, adding that recovery efforts were being carried out to restore normal operations.

According to the Iran International portal, several Iranian bank card services suffered interruptions yesterday, with customers reporting failed payments, blocked transfers and errors at point-of-sale terminals.

Iranian media reported service disruptions affecting cards issued by Bank Melli, Tejarat, Sepah and Saderat. Users reported problems with cards, online transfers, and ATM payments or transactions.
