The US attacks the Iranian coast again and Tehran responds against US bases in Bahrain and Kuwait

The forces of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed this Saturday that their air forces have attacked strategic Iranian positions in response to Tehran’s “continued aggression” against commercial shipping.

“CENTCOM forces launched attacks today in direct response to continued Iranian aggression against commercial shipping. US military aircraft attacked Iranian military surveillance infrastructure, communications systems, air defense sites, drone storage facilities and mine delivery systems,” they said in a statement on their social networks.

The United States military forces have warned that these actions are a direct response to the attacks carried out by Iran against a Singapore-flagged commercial ship crossing the Strait of Hormuz last Thursday, and against a Panamanian ship in that same route last night.

“Iran had the opportunity to respect the ceasefire agreement, but chose not to do so when its forces launched a one-way attack drone,” the statement said.

According to Iranian media, several projectiles hit the Sirik region and the Qeshm region, in the Iranian part of the Strait of Hormuz, on the night of Saturday to Sunday.

Specifically, several explosions have been heard in the town of Taherui, according to Iranian public television IRIB. This media claims, citing “an informed military source” that the explosions were due to the impact of several projectiles against a communications tower.

IRIB also reports several impacts in Masan, in the Qeshm region, an island located on the Iranian coast, very close to the strategic port of Bandar Abbas.

For its part, the American portal Axios has reported, citing North American sources, that this attack is in retaliation for the impact of a projectile against an oil tanker on Saturday morning.

This Saturday the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Center (UKMTO), dependent on the British Ministry of Defense, reported the impact of a projectile against an oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz area.

The ship’s owner, who has not been identified, reported this incident at 08:00 this Saturday, in which “an unidentified projectile” caused “damage to the bridge.” “All crew are safe. No environmental damage has been reported so far,” the UKMTO said in its statement.

The British agency has recommended that ships transit with “caution” through the area and has called on them to “report any suspicious activity.” In addition, it has raised the threat level to “substantial” and has warned of the presence of warships working to clear the strait.
