Byramov: “As a result of Armenian aggression, the fate of 4 thousand Azerbaijanis is unknown”

“As a result of the military aggression of Armenia, the fate of 4,000 Azerbaijanis is still unknown,” Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov announced today in Baku.

“In terms of clarifying the fate of those people, it is important for Armenia to provide mass graves, burial facts and maps of minefields,” said the head of the Azerbaijani diplomacy.

The Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan also said that after the 44-day war, Baku handed over the bodies of more than 2,000 Armenian servicemen to the Armenian side.

Yerevan has repeatedly stated at the highest level that it is ready to cooperate with Azerbaijan to find out the fate of the missing persons.

After 2020, Armenia transferred to Azerbaijan the bodies of 51 Azerbaijanis who died in the 44-day war, as well as the bones of 140 Azerbaijanis who died in the 90s.

And the number of 4,000 mentioned by Baku is questioned in Yerevan, stressing that they have no information about it, and adjusting the number of missing persons is a long process.

Armenia, for its part, raises the issue of about 1,200 missing persons. According to official data, 993 Armenians are considered missing since the beginning of the 90s. After the 44-day war, around 200 Armenian soldiers went missing.
