The Borgo San Giovanni hub obtains the GBC Italia Taxonomy Check

The logistics asset located in Borgo San Giovanni (Lodi) has completed the “ESG Taxonomy Check” verification scheme, becoming the first property in the sector in Italy to achieve this certification. Developed by Green Building Council Italia, the protocol made it possible to evaluate the alignment of the building, which covers a covered area of approximately 31,500 m2, with the rigorous technical criteria required by the European framework for sustainable finance. The project got it a Data Quality Index (DQI) of 2.8 out of 3, a parameter that attests to the high reliability of data relating to climate and energy performance. The evaluation covered aspects such asefficient use of resources, the circular economy, the prevention of pollution and the protection of biodiversity, including the recovery of over 70% of the waste generated during the construction phase.

In addition to environmental performance, the path has integrated respect for human rights and labor standards in accordance with OECD, UN and ILO guidelines. The building, currently undergoing LEED Platinum certification, adopts technical solutions aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and analyzing physical climate risks. The validation process, coordinated by a specialized chain that includes the investor DWS, the consultant QSC and the construction company Contracos, was formalized by the Accredited Verification Body ASACERT. Marco Caffi, Director of GBC Italia, underlined the importance of this milestone: “The application of the Taxonomy Check to the Borgo San Giovanni platform demonstrates how the evaluation based on the taxonomic criteria in force today can become a concrete tool also for the logistics sector“. The technical value of the operation lies in the ability to translate EU regulations into measurable indicators, promoting the attractiveness of real estate investments towards sustainability-oriented capital.

Roberto Mandelli, Technical Director of ASACERT, added: “The verification carried out on the Borgo San Giovanni platform represents a concrete example of how sustainability must be supported by independent, transparent and technical evidence-based evaluation processes“. In a rapidly evolving sector, the measurability of ESG performance therefore becomes an indispensable requirement for transparency towards the financial market, as confirmed by Mathilde Prot, administrator of QSC: “The synergy with GBC Italia and the coordination of GB & Partners have made it possible to integrate the requirements of the EU Taxonomy and the LEED criteria according to principles of quality, performance and durability of the building“. The project is completed with infrastructures serving the local community, including a new road system and a cycle path, demonstrating the integration between the efficiency of the asset and the urban quality of the district.
