Bitter bankruptcy of the operator of an Adeg market

About the assets of Dragan Zubcic, the owner of the Adeg market Zubcic in Hörbranzaccording to KSV1870, restructuring proceedings with self-administration were opened at the Feldkirch regional court on Tuesday. 16 employees are affected.

Owner Dragan Zubcic filed for bankruptcy himself. He cites the legal termination of the rental agreement by the landlord on December 31, 2026 as the main reason for the impending insolvency. Without suitable premises for the food market, operations can no longer be maintained.

The situation is being made worse by increasing competitive pressure. In recent years, several competitors have been added to the catchment area, which has led to a significant decline in customers and sales losses – with fixed costs remaining almost the same.

Catering business not affected

The catering business, which Zubcic also runs, is not affected by the bankruptcy. This division is said to be economically successful and sustainably positive.

The liabilities amount to around 795,000 euros.

The past

According to KSV1870, this is already the second bankruptcy for the entrepreneur. Insolvency proceedings were also opened against Zubcic in 2015, which were concluded in 2018 with a successful restructuring plan.

The future

Zubcic offers creditors a quota of 30 percent, payable within two years of the adoption of the restructuring plan. Lawyer Eva Müller from Frastanz was appointed as the restructuring administrator. The renovation plan meeting will take place on September 24th at the Feldkirch Regional Court.
