The former chairman of the trade union committee, Alon Hassan, lost the case to the Ashdod port and the Histadrut.

The National Labor Court has rejected an appeal by Alon Hasan, former chairman of the trade union committee of the port of Ashdod, in a lawsuit against the port company and against the General Federation of Trade Unions (Histadrut).

Hassan was suspended from the port in 2014 amid a criminal investigation and fired in 2021 after being convicted of fraud. The dismissal was backdated to the date of suspension.

Immediately after this, he filed a lawsuit against the port and against the Histadrut, accusing the former of non-payment of severance pay and the latter of violating obligations to protect his interests.

In 2025, the Be’er Sheva Labor Court rejected his claim, ordering him to pay the defendants 15,000 shekels in legal costs.

As a result of the rejected appeal, the National Labor Court increased the amount of legal costs by one and a half times, ruling that “the decision of the lower court was motivated and thoroughly justified in its conclusions, and we found no grounds for interfering with it.”
