At the Scuderie del Quirinale the first monographic exhibition dedicated to Pontormo

The exhibition which can be visited until 7 February 2027 – promoted by Ales – Scuderie del Quirinale in partnership with the Uffizi Galleries, produced together with the Electa publishing house – is curated by Cristina Acidini, one of the leading experts on sixteenth-century Florence, with the support of a team of authoritative scholars that includes Elena Capretti, Philippe Costamagna, Bruce Edelstein and Carlo Falciani.

The exhibition will be an opportunity to see all the artist’s main masterpieces brought together, together with an extraordinary selection of works on paper. In addition to the large number of works arriving from the Uffizi Galleries, exceptional loans from museums and collections all over the world (the Galleria dell’Accademia and Musei del Bargello, the Istituto Centrale per la Grafica, the Louvre, the National Gallery, the British Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Getty Museum in Los Angeles and others) will be compared in the rooms of the Scuderie del Quirinale starting from the most known and recognized by Pontormo, the Visitation from the Church of San Michele Arcangelo in Carmignano, near Prato. A highly spectacular journey, mainly chronological but not without thematic insights. The catalog published by Electa will represent a rigorous and updated point of reference for the knowledge of Pontormo in the historical and cultural context of sixteenth-century Florence and of painting between the late Renaissance and Mannerism.
