Peskov refused to comment on reports of Russian involvement in Iranian strikes on CIA facilities

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov refused to comment on the Reuters publication that American intelligence is checking whether Russia provided assistance to Iran in attacking CIA facilities in the Middle East.

“I don’t think that reporting some suspicions is a reason for comment,” the official said.

According to Reuters, suspicions of American analysts were caused by the accuracy and effectiveness of Iranian attacks, as well as the scale of technical cooperation between Moscow and Tehran. An internal Western intelligence document states that Russia was likely involved in identifying targets related to CIA activities in the region.

At least two CIA facilities were hit in March. One of them is the American intelligence station located at the US Embassy in Riyadh. Another facility was located in eastern Iraq. Some Reuters interlocutors said there were more targets attacked, but their exact number and location were not disclosed.

Two Western officials familiar with the intelligence suggested that the attack in Saudi Arabia used two Iranian drones enhanced with Russian technology. According to them, the first drone punched a hole in the outer wall of the embassy, ​​after which the second penetrated inside and exploded. No one was killed or injured as a result of the attack.
