According to a decision by the Paris Economic Activities Court, rendered on Wednesday, the emblematic distribution company Bac Films, which had been in receivership since April 2025, has just been sold to investment banker Jérémy Langlois.

Created in 1986 by the French producer and distributor Jean Labadie, the group was sold to the investment bank HLM Conseilaccording to a decision that AFP was able to consult. Beyond the 150 titles already acquired by the group for around 130,000 euros, HLM Conseil intends to purchase new catalogs and “ develop the number of films exploited through new mandates, co-distribution agreements and the acquisition of new portfolios ».

Recently, Bac Films has distributed several award-winning films such as The area of ​​interest by Jonathan Glazer, Junkyard dog by Jean-Baptiste Durand (with actor Raphaël Quenard), Alice and the Mayor by Nicolas Pariser or the films of exiled Russian director Kirill Serebrennikov. “This legal recovery, leading to a sale plan, constitutes a significant step for the independent cinema industry, in a year particularly dense in terms of business failures”said the group’s advisor, Farid Fatah, in a statement.

Bac Films was part of the Vivendi group before being listed on the stock market in 2000 under the name Bac Majestic. In 2013, the distribution company was bought by producer David Grumbach and delisted to become an independent group under the name Bac Films. Since its creation, the company has distributed more than 550 films.
