The US Army prevents the passage of 17 ships in the Gulf of Oman

The United States Army has assured this Monday that its forces have so far redirected or intercepted 17 commercial vessels that were trying to evade the naval blockade imposed against Iran in the Gulf of Oman.

The Central Command of the US Army (CENTCOM) has indicated in a brief message on its social networks that it has “diverted” 17 commercial ships, while boarding two others and “disabling” two vessels “to guarantee” this maritime fence decreed by the Donald Trump Administration.

Meanwhile, the Iranian state television channel IRIB has reported that the country’s authorities have intercepted six ships that were trying to traverse an “illegal and unsafe” route in the south of the Strait of Hormuz, for which they have turned off their navigation systems.

Five of the vessels returned to the Gulf thanks to the “decisive Iranian intervention” while the sixth suffered an accident, the chain notes, about an event about which it does not give more details except that it took place in the early hours of this Monday.
