Vlajčić: Vukovar-Srijem County is a positive example of the fight against swine fever

According to his words, the state inspectorate will be actively present in the restricted zones, i.e. protection and surveillance zones.

“This applies more to Viroviti-ko-Podravska and Osječko-Baranja counties, but the message to everyone in Vukovar-Srijem county is that, if we relax in any way, the virus will enter the pigs,” said Vlajčić.

“The continuous presence of positive wild boars in hunting grounds, in this case again more in Osječ-ko-Baranja and Virovitač-ko-Podravska ž counties, indicates that the disease is present there, but all indicators show that the disease among domestic pigs occurs exclusively due to the human factor that always causes transmission,” said Vlajčić.

Deputy of Vukovar-Srijem župan Darko Dimić alsođer called for maximum caution, saying that in the last hunting season, 1355 wild boars were shot, which is 540 more than the previous season.

“There were 51 positive cases among wild pigs in 2023, when there was that big infection. This year there are only two,” Dimi said.
