A successful start: Now a special duel awaits the WSC trainers

After the cup sensation against FAK failed to materialize last weekend, the Wiener Sport-Club achieved its first win in the second competitive game at the RLO season opener. After goals from veteran Eren Keles (43.) and defensive newcomer Kerim Abazovic (80.), the WSC confidently prevailed against FavAC in the only purely Viennese duel on the first matchday.

Neo coach Daniel Seper was satisfied with his team’s performance after his first competitive win as head coach. “Of course there are always a few little things where there is room for improvement, but overall we put in a confident performance against and with the ball right from the start.” In the next round there will be a special game for the Oberwart native, the game against promoted MSV 2020. “As a Burgenlander, I’m particularly looking forward to competing in the Pappelstadion. Mattersburg has shaped Burgenland football over the decades. It’s going to be really cool.” Seper doesn’t want to give his team the role of favorite. “Mattersburg has a really strong team that shouldn’t be underestimated despite the label as a promoted team. I’m expecting a really tough game.”

The Mattersburg team had a difficult draw at the start of the season and had to admit defeat to defending champions Gloggnitz 0-2 on Saturday. With FavAC, the sports club beat a relegation candidate from last season. It is still difficult to classify where MSV and WSC stand in the Eastern League pecking order; The cracker round 2 in the Pappelstadion should provide some insight.
