Banijay Kids & Family distributes the Finnish animation series Belzebubs to the world

Banijay Kids & Family is known for series, among other things Mr. Bean and Hello Kitty: Super Style. According to Variety the series has also been sold to the Catalan TV3 channel, and advance sales agreements have been made to Iceland and the Czech Republic.

The series will be shown at Yle Areena from September 24.

Future Beelzebubsseries based on a comic book artist JP Ahonen Beelzebubs-to the cartoon. The satanist family’s humorous characters in the black-and-white cartoon have become a global phenomenon, and more than 300,000 people follow the cartoon on Facebook.

According to Yle, Belzebubs is an animated sitcom about the everyday life, family relationships and band life of a black metal family. In the center of the series is Sløth, a family man, who tries to balance being a stay-at-home father and the band’s dreams of success.

Ahonen has worked as the main scriptwriter of the series.

Beelzebubs is a comic based on the world of metal music that started in 2016. Stripes has been compiled into a book, and it has been published in more than ten languages.

Later Beelzebubs also expanded into a music project.

The Belzebubs band has worked the same way as the Blur band by Damon Albarn and comic book artist by Jamie Hewlett founded by Gorillaz, a group of cartoon characters. Ahonen has scripted the animations and drawn the key images.

“Music is made seriously. At first, I defined the sound world with vague mental images in the style of black organic, ash, forest and fog, not clinical Swedish metal. Then I gave the musicians free rein,” Ahonen told HS in 2018.

The band has a contract for three records with the German Century Media company. In 2019, the comic band released their first album Pantheon Of The Nightside Gods as well as their first music videos.

Sampa Kukkonen, director of the animated series and co-founder of Pajama Films, told Suomen Kuvalehti in 2024, that the series began precisely based on music videos.

Pyjama Films from Turku also produced the animations for the music videos.
