The Santander Film Festival, to be held from September 11 to 17, will award its tenth edition’s Green Lighthouse prize to actress Elena Anaya in recognition of a career that transcends the strictly artistic realm and reflects “a firm commitment to environmental protection and raising social awareness.”
In a statement, the organization noted that the award recognizes individuals, organizations, or professionals in the audiovisual industry each year who use their influence to promote the protection of the natural environment and foster greater awareness of sustainability.
The director of the Santander Film Festival, Julia Olmo, emphasized that this award has special significance because “it represents the union between a brilliant film career and a personal commitment to causes related to nature conservation, especially the oceans.”
In this regard, she highlighted that the actress has lent her voice and image to environmental awareness initiatives and has collaborated on documentary projects that focus on the protection of marine ecosystems, helping to bring these issues closer to the general public.
“Her commitment has gone beyond isolated statements, actively participating in awareness campaigns and supporting the work of organizations dedicated to protecting the planet,” the festival organizers said.
Elena Anaya will receive the Green Lighthouse Award at this tenth edition of the Santander Film Festival on Saturday, September 12, at the Botín Centre.
Also, on the same day, the documentary “The Seasons” (Les saisons), a French production directed by Jacques Perrin and Jacques Cluzaud, will be screened at the Casyc Theatre. The film explores nature and the relationship between humans and animals since the last Ice Age, and Anaya provides the Spanish narration for the film.
Finally, the festival noted that Anaya is a Goya Award winner for “The Skin I Live In,” directed by Pedro Almodóvar, and boasts a filmography that combines independent cinema with major international productions.
