At least one dead and several injured in a new wave of massive Russian attacks on Zaporizhia

At least one person and several more have been injured in the last day as a result of a new wave of attacks by the Russian Armed Forces on the city of Zaporizhia, the scene in recent days of a renewed offensive that has left another seven dead and dozens affected.

The few areas of Zaporizhzhia province that have not yet been occupied by Moscow have been targeted in the last 24 hours by a new large-scale offensive by Russian forces that have directed 1,011 attacks on 57 towns, including the capital of the same name, and other small settlements.

“Zaporijia is recovering from the largest massive attack suffered by the city in recent years,” said the governor of the province, Ivan Fedorov, who acknowledged that these are “difficult days”, while medical and rescue teams continue working to minimize the damage of these latest bombings.

Fedorov has confirmed that the largest company operating in the city, the Zaporizhstal steelmaker – Ukraine’s fourth largest steel producer – has had to stop operations due to the attacks. The seven deaths confirmed the day before correspond to workers at this company.

For this new offensive, Russian forces have launched more than 250 artillery attacks and around 700 drones, as detailed by Fedorov, who has also reported that several towns have been left without power.

The city of Zaporizhia is located relatively close to the southern front line, which is why it is a regular target of air attacks from Russia, which has maintained control of about 70% of the territory of this province since the early stages of the invasion, back in February 2022.
