The political clash continues on Report. Centre-right: "Clarify the fees". M5s-Avs build a wall

The story involving the host of Report Siegfried Ranucci once again ignites the political conflict. What triggered the back and forth between the majority and the opposition today was an article from Time in which the salaries of the journalists of the Rai 3 broadcast are reported. The centre-right attacks, asking for “clarity” on what are defined as the “pharaonic salaries” of the reporters. While the center-left emphasizes the “seriousness” of the publication of the data, speaking of a “breach of confidentiality” to the detriment of the editorial staff.

“In three years the costs for the remuneration of authors and journalists alone for Sigfrido Ranucci’s broadcast have risen dramatically, going from 2.2 million in the 2022-2023 season to over 2.9 million expected for 2024-2025. An exponential growth which translates into literally pharaonic salaries for top collaborators”, underlines Brothers of Italy, Francesco Filini. Who announces “a question to the Supervisory Commission”, for what he defines as “Reportopoli”. And it has already been presented, by the FdI senator Matteo Gelmettia question to the Minister of Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso. The request is always the same: “clarity” on journalists’ salaries and ‘Report’ expenses. “We once again demand clarity and a clear position from Rai”, remarks the Melonian deputy group leader in the Chamber Augusta Montarulivice-president of the Rai Supervisory Commission.

Forza Italia’s ten questions on Report

To ask “ten questions” to Ranucci is, instead, Forza Italia. The ‘blue’ party asks the journalist to give an account of his relationship with Valter Lavitola and, on a more purely political level, he notes: “Last season, 14 episodes of Report out of 23 contained reports and investigations that directly concerned the government or centre-right parties, while the program dedicated only three episodes to the centre-left”. Then another question: “Is it a coincidence that has nothing to do with Lavitola’s plan to make her the ‘wide field’ prime minister candidate?” FI’s ten questions are relaunched Maurizio Gasparrimember of the Rai Supervisory Party. “You can’t hear Sigfrido Ranucci addressing the Rai ethics committee because the enormous costs of Report have been disclosed. He made mistakes in his interactions: with a character like Lavitola you shouldn’t even have a coffee”, reflects the Democratic Party senator Walter Veriniin an interview with the Quotidiano Nazionale, underlining, however, that “Report is a flagship of public service information” and that “it would be unacceptable for politicians to decide to oust Ranucci to target a broadcast that is annoying”. “Solidarity with the director Capezzone and his colleagues at Tempo for the complaints from the Report journalists”, comes from the FdI group leader in the Chamber Galeazzo Bignamiafter a statement in which the program’s correspondents made it known that they had switched to stamp papers against the Roman newspaper.
