Slim powerhouse from Samsung: Galaxy Tab S12 arrives with a huge screen and powerful hardware

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra comes with a 14.6-inch screen with a resolution of 2960 x 1848 pixels, while the S12+ has a 12.6-inch panel with a resolution of 2800 x 1752 pixels. Both screens work at 120 Hz and have a peak brightness of up to 1600 nits, and Samsung has also improved the Vision Booster, which automatically adjusts the brightness to the lighting conditions.

The larger model stands out in particular with its dimensions. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra is only 5.1 millimeters thick and weighs 692 grams in Wi-Fi version, or 695 grams with 5G connection. The S12+ is 5.3 millimeters thick and weighs 553 grams in the Wi-Fi version. Both models have IP68 certification for water and dust resistance.

MediaTek Dimensity 9500 is responsible for performance, and Samsung states that the new generation brings up to 61 percent faster NPU processing, 19 percent faster CPU and 17 percent better GPU performance compared to the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. The new 3D Vapor Chamber technology is installed for cooling.

The Ultra model can be configured with up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of internal memory, while versions with 12 GB of RAM and 256 or 512 GB of space are also available. The S12+ comes with 12 GB of RAM and 256 or 512 GB of storage. Both models support microSD cards with a capacity of up to 2 TB.

Samsung also claims a long battery life. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra has a battery with a capacity of 11,600 mAh, and the S12+ 10,600 mAh, while both support charging with a power of up to 45 W. According to Samsung’s laboratory measurements, the Ultra can offer up to 23 hours of video playback, and the S12+ up to 21 hours.

One of the main highlights of the new generation is artificial intelligence. The tablets come with Android 17 and One UI 9, and Samsung has linked AI functions to work on the big screen. Multi Window enables dividing the screen into three parts, so, for example, you can use Samsung Notes, a lecture and an AI assistant at the same time. Note Assist can contain notes.

Along with the devices, Samsung also includes a six-month trial period for Google AI Pro. Gemini Notebook can combine notes, photos, recordings and files and create summaries, podcasts and quizzes from them. Samsung Browser also gets the ability to compress content and find previously viewed sources.

In addition to the S Pen, which comes in the package, Samsung also offers additional keyboards Pro Keyboard and Book Cover Keyboard Slim. The Pro Keyboard has a special Galaxy AI key that can be used to access AI assistants such as Bixby, Gemini or Perplexity.

Also new is Adobe Photoshop, which is pre-installed on the Galaxy Tab S12 series. Samsung says this is the first time Photoshop has been pre-installed on Android tablets. The application is adapted to work on a tablet and S Pen, and users also get four months of free access to Photoshop’s mobile plan.

Along with the tablets, Samsung also lists a package of benefits for applications such as Notability, Goodnotes, LumaFusion, Notion and Clip Studio Paint. The total value of the benefits, according to Samsung, is around 530 euros, but some of the offers refer to trial periods or discounts on subscriptions.

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+ will be available from October 7, in gray and silver. Samsung promises up to seven generations of operating system upgrades and security updates for both models.
