“It is very sweet, its scent is both very subtle and very persistent. This strawberry stays in your mouth, it’s impressive! » With its bright red color, and its conical shape less elongated than the gariguette, the floriguette has continued to seduce Pierrick L’Eost, 49, market gardener in Loperhet (Finistère) and strawberry producer at Savéol since 2009. The Finistère cooperative, of which he is vice-president, is launching a new strawberry on the market for good this spring. Rather early, it has the advantage of filling the gap in gariguette production, which arrives between mid-May and mid-June.
Best known for its tomatoes (Savéol is the French leader in French tomatoes, with 90 producers and production between 75 and 80,000 tonnes annually), the house only accounts for 5% of the French strawberry market (i.e. 3,000 tonnes) while being the undisputed French leader in gariguette.
