Ukraine struck with drones only 50 kilometers away from Finland

Ukraine has carried out a drone attack on the port of Uura in Russia during the night. This is reported by, among others, Bloomberg.

According to Bloomberg, a fire broke out in the port as a result of the impact. Governor of the Leningrad region Alexander Drozdenko says in Telegram that the Russian air defense destroyed 27 unmanned aerial vehicles. Rescue units are currently extinguishing the fire.

Russia’s largest private oil producer At Lukoil has its own terminal in the port.

Russian port areas on the coast of the Baltic Sea have become the target of Ukrainian drone strikes this year, as around 40 percent of Russia’s seaborne crude oil exports pass through them. Ukraine is trying to drain Russia’s war coffers by limiting the country’s oil revenues.

The port is about 50 kilometers from the Finnish border. It is about 90 kilometers from the port of St. Petersburg.

In a Telegram, Governor Drozdenko appealed to the residents of the region and urged them to join the so-called mobile armed forces, which are stationed at critically important facilities. There is a special need for people with combat experience and, for example, people who have retired from the army. Such persons can be hired for three years to help fight airstrikes.

Russia, on the other hand, struck during the night in the Chernihiv region in Ukraine and damaged an important energy site for Ukraine near the border with Belarus. About 380,000 inhabitants were left without electricity.
