MARKETS: Nvidia’s subcontractor rockets up at the Hong Kong stock market launch

Asian stock markets were mostly up on Tuesday, with the exception of mainland China.

In Japan, the growth rate was 1.2 percent in the Nikkei index of large export companies and 0.1 percent in the broader TOPIX index. The Hang Seng index of the Hong Kong stock exchange was up 0.1 percent, but the indices in mainland China were down 0.2 to 0.7 percent. Semiconductor-focused stock markets in Taiwan and Korea were on a solid rise.

A PCB manufacturer in Hong Kong Victory Giant started on the stock exchange after the biggest initial public offering of the year with a 57 percent increase on its first day on the stock exchange. Nvidia too serving Victory Giant supplies circuit boards to, for example, data centers.

Market sentiment is boosted by signs that the United States and Iran may return to the negotiating table before the end of the ceasefire.

The geopolitical situation is still sensitive. President of the United States Donald Trump has said he is unlikely to extend the two-week ceasefire with Iran that ends Wednesday night. This increases the pressure on the ongoing peace talks in Pakistan.

In the foreign exchange market, the dollar had strengthened by 0.1 percent against the euro, yen and pound.
