Towards the opening of trading on Wall Street: a mixed trend in the futures contracts

Towards the first trading day of May, a mixed trend in futures contracts on Wall Street: S&P 500 is up about 0.1%, Dow Jones is up about 0.2% (about 116 points), while Nasdaq is slightly down about 0.1%.

The changes follow a strong session on Thursday, in which the S&P 500 rose 1.02% and crossed the 7,200-point mark for the first time in history, the Nasdaq gained 0.89% and the Dow added 790 points.

April ended with a 10.4% gain in the S&P 500 – the best monthly performance since 2020.

The 10-year U.S. Treasury yield was at about 4.42% (after rising about 6 basis points on Thursday), and the 2-year bond yield climbed to about 3.95%. The 10-year yield fell slightly below 4.4% on Thursday as oil prices retreated from record highs, but remains high compared to the start of the year.

Brent crude futures rose about 1.1% to $111.63 a barrel in early trade. This after on Thursday the contracts reached a four-year high of $126.41 per barrel before closing at $114.01.

The WTI contracts stand at about $104.38 per barrel, a decrease of about 0.66%.

Gold traded around $4,587 per ounce, a decrease of about 0.92% compared to yesterday.

Bitcoin is trading around $77,490, up about 1.59%.
