Out-of-court deal: ASOS will spend NIS 30 million on discounts for Israelis

British online retailer ASOS has reached a settlement agreement in a representative lawsuit filed against it in Israel for violating the Consumer Protection Law.

According to the lawsuit, filed in 2022, prices for Israeli users in shekels and dollars are inflated compared to prices in pounds sterling, the total price in shekels is not displayed next to the price in pounds, and currency conversion is not carried out at the official rate.

ASOS rejected the claims, citing a lack of cause of action under either English or Israeli law. On the recommendation of the court, the parties turned to mediation and, after almost a year of negotiations, reached agreements without admitting guilt by either party.

The out-of-court settlement applies to Israeli consumers who purchased products from the Israeli version of the website or through the ASOS app and had them delivered to an Israeli address in the seven years preceding the filing of the lawsuit. According to ASOS, as of June 2025, this group has approximately 850 thousand members.

Israeli customers will be given a NIS 60 discount coupon for any purchase on ASOS Israel’s website. Moreover, the number of purchases is not limited. The total amount of coupons is 30 million shekels. The coupon does not limit the possibility of receiving other discounts and does not require a minimum purchase amount.

In addition, under the terms of the agreement, ASOS undertakes to display prices on Israeli platforms exclusively in shekels, and convert gift certificates in other currencies at the official rate.

When you enter an Israeli delivery address, a notification about possible additional third-party payments (VAT, bank card fees) will appear on the screen with the total cost of the order.

The plaintiffs’ lawyers will receive 4.3 million shekels, and each of the two plaintiffs will receive 600 thousand shekels.
