Agreement with Dongfeng, Stellantis will produce Peugeot in China

Stellantis and Dongfeng Group have announced the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement to expand their thirty-year partnership through the joint production of Peugeot and Jeep vehicles in China. The agreement envisages a total investment of more than 8 billion yuan (approximately 1 billion euros)aiming to transform the Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile (DPCA) joint venture into a manufacturing hub not only for the local market, but also for global export.

The operation

As of 2027, the DPCA plant in Wuhan will initially produce two new Peugeot-branded new energy vehicles (NEVs), inspired by the design of the concept cars unveiled at the recent 2026 Beijing Auto Show. At the same time, the plan involves the start of production of two Jeep-branded NEVs intended for international markets. Stellantis will contribute approximately 130 million euros to the operation, benefiting from the favorable industrial policies of the Hubei province.

“Stellantis and Dongfeng are ready to capitalize on their respective strengths and introduce cutting-edge electric technologies,” said Antonio Filosa, CEO of Stellantis. Dongfeng Group President Qing Yang highlighted how the integration between Stellantis’ global network and Chinese intelligent technologies will give a “strong impetus to DPCA’s transformation.” The implementation of the project remains subject to regulatory approvals and the signing of final operating agreements.
