According to a court decision, Khimikalim Le-Israel paid the state 330 million shekels for water

ICL (formerly Chemicallim Le-Israel), which owns the Dead Sea factories, transferred NIS 330 million to the state water company Mekorot in accordance with the Supreme Court ruling.

ICL extracted water for its needs from its concession in the Dead Sea area without paying the state for it. In 2017, the water law was changed, requiring everyone who extracts water in Israel to pay a fee.

The corporation, with the support of the Ministry of Justice, argued that the concession law exempted it from paying for water, but in a case that reached the Supreme Court, judges ultimately supported the position of Lobby 99 and Adam Teva VeDin and Mekorot.

The ICL payment amounted to 3.5% of all water fees in Israel, but it should be emphasized that the water authority has already taken this payment into account in its calculations in order to avoid a sharp increase in water tariffs at the beginning of 2026.
