How Amway Vietnam builds a happy working environment

The strategy of developing people and building a culture of happiness has helped Amway Vietnam be honored in the group of “Top Excellent Workplaces in Vietnam” for many consecutive years.

At the end of May, Great Place To Work – a global authority on workplace culture – just announced a list of 35 companies with the top working environments in Vietnam. Amway Vietnam ranked 5th in the rankings for medium-sized enterprises (100 – 999 employees). This is the second time the company has been honored at the Best Workplaces in Vietnam award. Previously, Amway Vietnam achieved Great Place To Work certification for three consecutive years.

In addition to the titles for working environment, Amway Vietnam also made its mark with 9 consecutive years of growth, and rose to the Top 9 markets with the highest global revenue of Amway Group.

According to the business representative, behind this result is a human development strategy and building a happy working culture built over many years.

Core values create a happy working environment

Ms. On Minh Hang, Deputy General Director of Amway Vietnam, said that at Amway Vietnam, core values are considered the “operating system” for all operations and human development activities. The four values of collaboration, personal values, responsibility and integrity are built on the co-founder’s founding principles and are present in the way employees work, coordinate and make decisions every day.

“These values help each individual clearly understand what they are contributing to and why their work is meaningful,” the representative shared.

This strategy was built by Amway from the early years of establishing an office in the Vietnamese market and maintained for nearly 20 years. Thanks to that, the company not only grew in business but also created its own culture. From that foundation, the business continues to build a culture of “listening to employees” through internal culture and engagement surveys deployed periodically twice a year.

“This is considered a way for the company to understand human resource needs and continuously improve to stay ahead of trends and enhance a happy working experience,” the business leader said.

Thanks to this approach, Amway Vietnam’s employee engagement index has remained above 90% for 5 consecutive years. Particularly in this year’s April survey, the company recorded an engagement level of 96%, exceeding the group’s global target. Notably, 97% of employees said they believe in the company’s culture and development direction.

Mr. Vo Nguyen Duy Hien, Head of Business Training Department, who has been with the business for more than 15 years, said that what he appreciates most at Amway is the care for employees and the culture of recognition demonstrated every day. “No matter what position they are in, each individual is listened to, trusted and given the opportunity to develop themselves,” he said.

How to nurture employee happiness

At Amway Vietnam, employee benefits extend into a comprehensive work experience. Through the Health & Wellbeing strategy, employees are cared for both physically and mentally.

Among them, the program “Healthier. Better You.” was deployed to encourage employees to proactively build a healthy lifestyle. Internal sports communities such as jogging, yoga, gym, pickleball or soccer are also strongly developed, contributing to increasing connections between departments and creating a working environment rich in positive energy.

Besides health care, Amway Vietnam also builds a culture of recognition as an important part of the employee experience. Through recognition and gratitude programs, individual and collective contributions are regularly honored.

The business also pays great respect to long-term employees through a recognition program based on milestones of 5, 10, 15 and 20 years of employment. In addition, employees also have the opportunity to participate in international trips to Korea, Singapore, China… to regenerate energy and strengthen team spirit.

It is this persistent investment that has created high levels of engagement among the workforce, with 50% of employees working for more than 5 years and a third of employees having been with them for more than a decade.

Investing in people for sustainable development

In addition to building corporate culture, Amway Vietnam also views human development as a long-term strategy to build sustainable internal resources. Since joining the company, employees have participated in the integration program for new members with milestones of 30-60-90 days to quickly get acquainted with the work and company culture.

At the same time, the global learning system Employee Central provides hundreds of professional and skills courses personalized for each position. In the context of AI and digital transformation increasingly impacting the labor market, businesses also implemented the “AI for IMPACT” program to improve employees’ AI application capacity.

According to business leaders, from comprehensive employee care strategies to long-term talent development orientation, Amway Vietnam shows a close connection between corporate culture and business performance, and also demonstrates success in the philosophy of “investing in people is always the happiest and most sustainable investment”.
