Elbit creates a joint venture in Germany to produce loitering ammunition for the Bundeswehr

As part of the Long-Range Loitering Ammunition project, the Bundeswehr intends to purchase ammunition capable of hitting targets at a range of 200-300 kilometers. The project is expected to be completed in a few months.

Elbit will cooperate with the German company Diehl Defense, which already produces Spike missiles in Germany together with the Israeli concern Rafael and artillery systems together with Elbit.

According to the terms of the partnership, production is distributed equally – 50 to 50. The companies note that mass production can begin in Germany within 36 months after the launch of the program.

As part of the division of labor, Diehl will be responsible for the production of warheads and launchers, while Elbit and its German subsidiary will produce the aircraft platform – both in Israel and in Germany. The first systems will be produced in Israel immediately after the contract is signed – until the deployment of the production line in Germany.

One of the main advantages of SkyStriker is the ability to launch it from PULS rocket artillery systems, which Germany intends to purchase for billions. The UAV autonomously aims at a target and is capable of diving at it at speeds of up to 550 km/h. The mass of the warhead is 5-10 kg.
