Two Vingroup companies are the general contractors for 5 new urban railway projects

The new projects belong to the planning of Hanoi’s network of 18 urban railway lines, with a total length of about 979 km, of which 5 newly started lines have a total length of about 303.5 km. The routes are oriented to develop according to the TOD model, combining public transportation with urban development along the railway corridor.

Hanoi Urban Railway Management Board is the investor. The joint venture of Vinhomes Joint Stock Company and VinSpeed ​​High Speed ​​Rail Investment and Development Joint Stock Company, part of Vingroup, takes on the role of EPC general contractor for the following routes:

Route number 1: Thuong Tin – Tam Hung – Thuong Phuc – Dan Hoa – Railway industrial park – Ngoc Hoi – Hanoi station – Yen Vien – Thu Lam multi-purpose urban area – Noi Bai airport;

Route number 2: Noi Bai Airport – Tran Hung Dao – Thuong Dinh – Thuong Tin – Tam Hung – Thuong Phuc – Dan Hoa;

Route 8: Hoa Lac – Son Dong – Mai Dich – Belt 3 – Linh Nam – Duong Xa;

Route 10: Dong Anh – Vo Chi Cong – Belt 3 – Belt 2.5 – Times City – Dong Anh;

Route number 14: Thang Long – Hong Ha – Gia Lam Bridge.

“The groundbreaking of 5 new urban railway projects is expected to contribute to completing Hanoi’s public transport infrastructure, expanding urban development space and improving connectivity between areas of the capital,” said a representative of the Vinhomes – VinSpeed ​​joint venture.

To prepare for implementation, the general contractor consortium has pre-surveyed routes and worked with equipment suppliers. The enterprise ordered TBM construction equipment, diaphragm wall excavators, added more than 200 bored pile construction lines and increased means of transporting excavated soil and drilling mud.

The Vinhomes – VinSpeed ​​joint venture also coordinated with consulting units from Europe, Japan, Korea, and China to create detailed designs. Contractors with experience in constructing TBM tunnels, providing machinery and equipment, trains, operating systems, control and train safety are also mobilized for the next phase.

Vinhomes is a real estate development enterprise that has implemented many large-scale urban projects. VinSpeed ​​is currently the investor of the first two high-speed railway projects in Vietnam, including the 54 km long Ben Thanh – Can Gio line in Ho Chi Minh City and the 120 km long Hanoi – Quang Ninh line, with a maximum design speed of 350 km/h.

Both lines use trains and control and system technology from Europe. In particular, the Ben Thanh – Can Gio project has an underground section from Ben Thanh Station to the Salt Port area using TBM tunnel technology with a large diameter of up to 13.6 m. Responsible for designing and manufacturing TBM tunneling equipment by Herrenknecht (Germany), a reputable unit in manufacturing mechanized tunnel boring machines. Siemens (Germany) designs and manufactures the train.
