Herzliya City Hall obliges the developer to notify future buyers about sewage problems

The Herzliya Municipal Commission for Design and Construction has approved the promotion of a major urban renewal project in the Weizman quarter, implemented by Azorim,

As part of the project, old buildings with 576 apartments will be demolished and new buildings with 1,800 apartments will be built in their place.

However, as reported by The Marker, the commission ruled that as a condition of issuing a building permit, the developer must sign a waiver of claims and indemnification in which he states that he is aware of the problem of connecting to the city’s sewer infrastructure.

The developer will also be required to convey this information to future buyers and tenants.

A condition for occupancy of the project and receipt of a certificate of completion will be confirmation from the water company that a solution has been found to connect the project to the city’s sewer infrastructure.

In other words, even if construction progresses, it will be impossible to occupy hundreds of new apartments without solving the sewerage issue.

The crisis is related to the delay in decommissioning Herzliya’s old wastewater treatment plants and connecting the city to the regional Shafdan system. According to the Herzliya Municipality, schedules have not been met and completion of the work is not expected until 2032 instead of the planned 2028.
