In the process to link cell phone number lines to the Unique Population Registry Code (CURP), users can also unlink from those lines that they no longer use or that do not correspond to them. This measure represents protection for the user, since the intention of carrying out the mobile registration is to have an investigation tool on extortion and crimes, in such a way that reporting that this line no longer belongs to the person who once used it, disassociates it from the investigations that the authorities will carry out.

Mobile telephone operators are required to incorporate a consultation portal into their online site so that users can validate whether there is a line registered with their CURP, in the case of natural persons, or with the Federal Taxpayer Registry, for legal entities. If a user does not recognize the line, they must go to any customer service center to clarify, and present their current official identification. Once your identity has been validated, the telephone company staff will proceed with the clarification and, if appropriate, will carry out the disconnection, according to Telcel, a company that has almost 60 percent of the cellular line market.

On the 25th, the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission reported that 63 million lines had been linked, which means 43.6 percent.

In December 2025, the CRT established the linking of telephone lines with relevant adjustments regarding two previous initiatives to generate a cell phone registry. Mainly it eliminated the use of biometric data and the centralization of the database by the State.

Under this design, the CURP or RFC remains in the systems of Telcel, AT&T, Movistar and Altán Redes (for users of Bait and other virtual mobile operators) and is validated with records from the National Electoral Institute and the National Population Registry.
