The “Gaming Challenge” pilot project, a recruiting format run by waff and Wiener Stadtwerke, took place from April to last week. The aim was to find young talent based on their interest in gaming. The focus was on a web app that linked gaming skills with the requirements of specific professions. Participants were able to track their progress, make their personal strengths visible and discover suitable entry opportunities. Around 900 gamers have registered for the pilot project, and 290 job matches for 13 apprenticeships, internships and entry-level jobs were achieved. As a pilot partner, Wiener Stadtwerke provided a total of 13 entry options.
The event took place on online platforms such as “Discord” as well as in the Millennium City, in the Donauzentrum and as part of Future Unlocked, the job fair for young Viennese in the town hall. Recruiters from Wiener Stadtwerke were available on site for advice and information on specific career paths.
Vice Mayor Barbara Novak summarizes: “With the Gaming Challenge, waff has consciously taken new paths to meet young people where their interests lie.” Roman FuchsDeputy General Director of Wiener Stadtwerke, adds: “The Gaming Challenge can be the first step towards an internship at Wiener Stadtwerke.”
