La Jornada: The government will avoid raising gasoline prices

Given the war in Iran, “we cannot allow the price of fuel to rise and we are going to continue keeping gasoline at 24 pesos and diesel at 27,” said President Claudia Sheinbuam Pardo.

He explained that the fiscal stimulus for gasoline will continue to avoid increases for the consumer. He indicated that, with high crude oil prices, Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) contributes greater income to the government through the oil right for well-being, which is 30 percent of production in addition to the resources obtained from exports.

He specified that, when making the balance between income and expenses of the Treasury, the cost of this measure amounts to about 20 billion pesos, but affirmed that the government will maintain support to contain inflation and protect the economy of families.

He warned that operations will continue to supervise gas stations that do not comply with the agreed prices or commit irregularities.
